3 cm
As Writer and Director of 3CM, a short film currently on the festival circuit, I sought to interrogate the commodification of bodies within the fashion industry. Funded by the Maestro Grant and produced through Studio 20Q at Northwestern University, 3CM follows a debut model navigating the psychological toll of industry-imposed dietary demands—culminating in an unjust accusation. The film challenges stereotypes of models as aloof or dramatic by exposing the emotional and physical cost of an industry obsessed with control. At its core is a fundamental truth: “Bodies are not designed to fit clothes; rather, it is the inverse.” Through an uncomfortable and reflective lens, 3CM demands that viewers confront the consequences of a system that strips individuals of agency and identity in pursuit of unattainable ideals.

Below are three featured projects that highlight my creative direction, editing, and production coordination.
Tides vs. Threads - سیلاب اور کچے دھا گے
Tides vs. Threads - سیلاب اور کچے دھا گے is a film produced in collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Studies at Northwestern University in Qatar fellowship.
The film delves into the aftermath of the devastating floods that struck Pakistan from June to October 2022, claiming lives and causing immense economic losses. Despite contributing less than 1% to global climate change, Pakistan faces recurring climate catastrophes, impacting its vital handicraft industry, particularly affecting women who play a crucial role in this sector. Before the floods, around 65% of Pakistani women earned their livelihood from handcrafting, granting them economic independence and creative expression. However, the floods disrupted this dynamic, exacerbating their vulnerability within patriarchal structures. Through poignant storytelling, my documentary sheds light on the lives of these women, showcasing their resilience amidst adversity and the long-term consequences of environmental disasters on their livelihoods. Join us as we uncover the untold stories of courage and determination in rural Pakistan.

These films were screened during the World Cup event and attended by celebrities, including David Beckham.
